Therapeutic Infrared Bulbs

Our custom-made therapeutic infrared and deep red therapy bulbs are unlike anything else on the market. Not only can they deliver about 50% of light energy in the near-infrared (NIR), they can also be used for general lighting and can achieve a true sun-like spectrum with deep red therapy photons. Therapeutic infrared lamps and bulbs come in all shapes and sizes and they have gained in popularity following the numerous studies confirming the benefits of body exposure to NIR light. Many commercial products claim they can help with muscle regeneration and pain relief, but those claims are often not supported by the type of NIR and red sources used in such products. The majority of deep red and NIR sources on the market today have narrow-band spectral characteristics since they tend to rely exclusively on LEDs and/or lasers.

We have demonstrated and built a wide range of infrared and deep red light sources using advanced photonic conversion technologies. By delivering deep-red and NIR light emission using phosphor-converted LEDs (pcLEDs), we can achieve a full band visible+NIR spectrum comparable to sunlight. Unlike conventional IR LED or laser products, the NIR to visible spectral ratio from our pcLEDs or bulbs is comparable to that in the solar spectrum. The full range of NIR band available makes the light capable of reaching beyond the subcutaneous tissue or deepest layer of the skin and into the muscles. This is made possible using proprietary optical materials matched to existing solid-state lighting technologies. For example, the full visible+NIR spectrum shown below was achieved by converting a standard LED with no NIR or deep red energy into a full spectrum visible+NIR comparable to what we experience during the early morning or late afternoon sun.
