Therapeutic Infrared-rich Bulbs for General Lighting

Our therapeutic infrared and deep red light bulbs are unlike anything else on the market. Just like the Sun, they deliver about 50% of light energy in the invisible near-infrared (NIR). This is made possible using proprietary optical structures developed specifically to work with standard LEDs. Unlike other types of deep red and infrared lamps, our bulbs can also be used for general lighting while delivering a true sun-like full spectrum with continuous energy across the visible up to the infrared region beyond 1000nm.

Therapeutic infrared lamps and bulbs come in all shapes and sizes and they have gained in popularity following the numerous studies confirming the benefits of body exposure to NIR light. Many commercial products claim they can help with muscle regeneration and pain relief, but those claims are often not supported by the type of NIR and red light sources used in such products. The majority of deep red and NIR sources on the market today have narrow-band spectral characteristics since they tend to rely exclusively on LEDs and/or lasers.

A standard LED spectrum converted to a full visible+infrared using phosphor technology

Following more than 25 years of research and development into advanced optical materials, our company has demonstrated and built a wide range of infrared and deep red broadband light sources using advanced photonic structures. These optical structures can deliver deep-red, NIR, and SWIR (Short Wave IR) light emission using phosphor-converted LEDs (pcLEDs), while achieving a full and continuous color band. Unlike conventional LEDs, the NIR-to-visible spectral ratio from our bulbs is comparable to that in the solar spectrum. The full range of IR bands available makes it possible for the produced light energy to reach beyond the subcutaneous tissue or deepest layer of the skin and into the muscles. This is made possible using advanced optical materials matched to existing solid-state lighting technologies typically used in conventional LED bulbs. For example, the full visible+NIR spectrum shown above was achieved by converting a standard LED with excessive blue light and no NIR or deep red energy into a full spectrum visible+NIR comparable to what we experience during the early morning or late afternoon sun.
