We can produce and customize a wide range of broadband LED sources (UV/Vis/NIR LED) that provide stable and high-power illumination for a wide range of spectroscopy applications. Unlike traditional deuterium or short-arc sources with xenon or mercury-xenon bulbs for UV through NIR, phosphor-converted full spectrum LED (pcLED-FS) sources are built using advanced solid-state lighting technologies involving UVC LEDs and UVA/UVB/Vis/NIR phosphors. The sources can be USB-powered while covering the spectral range from 250nm to >850nm. They feature current controllers and/or internal feedback systems to achieve highly stable output by automatically monitoring the board temperature to adjust the LED intensity. The on-board temperature sensor protects the LEDs from thermal damage and help minimize phosphor thermal quenching.

A broadband stable UV LED source is ideal for compact and portable optical absorbance, reflectance, and transmission measurements.  It consumes significantly less electrical power and generates less heat and more optical output compared to traditional UV/Vis/NIR sources. Typical UV/Vis/NIR sources used in spectroscopy (deuterium lamp, for example) can consume around 25W while producing less than 1mW of optical power. A typical broadband LED source can consume less than 3W while delivering 100s of mW in optical power. With a small footprint, they can also be integrated into a wide range of optical equipment or be used as part of a detector calibration system. The only power supply needed is an external DC or USB power source. Some pcLEDs are also dimmable using an external pulse width modulation (PWM) signal and can be built on an Arduino compatible board.
