A NIR enhanced LED is intended to deliver full spectrum lighting across the visible to the infrared consistent with what the human body has been accustomed to from natural sunlight. Traditional LED lighting technologies were developed with the aim of maximizing visible light as determined by the sensitivity curves of the eye cones. While the light cones are not sensitive to infrared, human tissues can absorb a significant part of the invisible IR energy, which has been shown scientifically to be capable of penetrating deep under the skin layers.
Using proprietary phosphor-converted LED technology, we can produce a wide range of LEDs with enhanced near-infrared. In many cases, commercial LED packages can be converted to produce NIR light using remote phosphor elements. The daylight spectrum shown below is an attempt to duplicate the Vis-NIR solar spectrum using phosphor-converted LEDs.
