Instrument for CIE Color Chromaticity and Photometry of Fluorescent Powders and Nanocrystals

SpecCIE is a compact and portable photometry system for color and spectral analysis of a wide range of photo luminescent optical materials including phosphors, pigments, quantum dots, perovskite nanocrystals, OLED materials, organic fluorescent dyes, and many others. It employs a USB-powered spectrometer calibrated using a NIST-traceable source and a built-in 450nm low power laser for quick spectral data collection and CIE xy measurements, but it can also employ a variety of light sources in the UV, violet, or visible/NIR part of the spectrum. It is designed to be used across many industries and research disciplines, particularly for phosphor-converted LED (pcLED) color optimization, CIE chromaticity matching, and manufacturing of pcLEDs with accurate color metrics and correlated color temperature (CCT) matched to a particular application. Using the provided software, the instrument can measure the CIE (x,y)  values of the luminescent material independently from the excitation source. It can also measure the CIE chromaticity, CCT, and photometric properties of the fluorescent material, including the excitation source (LED, laser, etc.) of your choice, not just the included 450nm blue laser. Spectral analysis of optical materials and various mixtures can be conducted inside sealed sample vials without the need to handle dry powders or risk spilling liquids and powders that may contain heavy metals or other hazardous substances. Less than 0.5g of materials is needed for testing. Dry powders can also be mixed with polymer encapsulants such as silicone or epoxy in order to characterize and compare perfomance in the specific matrix used in the manufacturing of commercial pcLEDs.
